NEW EQUIPMENT

I've added a some new pieces for tracking, mixing, and mastering: the Dangerous Music BAX EQ, the TK Audio BC1 Stereo Compressor, 2 Lynx Aurora 16's for bee-you-tee-ful AD/DA conversion, the A-Designs Hammer tube EQ and the venerable API 2500 stereo compressor. Good stuff, indeed!

I am also pleased to announce the addition of a Manley Vari-Mu tube compressor-limiter, a Crane Song Avocet for the ultimate in monitor control, and an API 5500 dual equalizer. It's all topped off with a new master clock, the Antelope Audio Isochrone OCX for refinement in the digital domain.

I've also recently added some cool, and I mean very cool equipment for tracking, mixing and mastering including the Apogee Rosetta 200, Crane Song's HEDD 192, IBIS, and STC-8, the True Precision 8 mic preamp, and the ART Tubefire! Talk about beautiful sound and versatility!  Studio monitors have been upgraded here to include the Focal Twin 6be's.  Mighty nice!, and even better mix and master translation than ever before.

I've been working on getting a new band together, and it's coming along nicely!  CITIZEN MOJO  is a rhythm & blues band (to paint with a larger brush); comprised of 5 members, all seasoned veterans.  The band's EPK is available here.  You can check out some tunes recorded LIVE in the studio here:

Vocals are the sole overdub (gets pretty busy being guitarist, singer, and engineer all at once!).  Mixed and mastered here as well, of course...

Lots of people ask, "What is MASTERING, really?".  I've provided a brief but comprehensive explanation here.  If it creates more questions than it does answers, shoot me an e-mail or give me a call and I'll explain it further.  Even if it doesn't (it can get rather technical), I'd love to hear from you on mastering your next project!  HEY...WE'LL USE THE GOOD STUFF!

Lots shakin' here with some cool acts: 

Ruth Wakefield's long-awaited album, Take Me Home is very near completion.  It could well wind up being the most important release to come out of the facilities here...a tremendous amount of time and effort has gone into production.  It's been well worth it!

Rory Kelly's Triple Threat has contracted with me to assist in production of their forthcoming blues/rock offering.  I've been making mix suggestions and I'm also beginning to master some tracks.  Might also be lending some guitar work to a cut or two as well.  It is, in a (hyphenated) word:  kick-ass!

My good friend Sam Earnhardt is scheduled to come in to track his latest song-writing output here in the next couple weeks.  Another classy artist, and I'll try to keep from splitting my sides laughing...he certainly knows how to have a good time.  Really looking forward to this!

Upstate SC's Archer vs. Gunman will be in Februrary 2012 to begin tracking an album's worth of material.  It'll wind up being labeled as "Americana", but it's still rock 'n' roll to me!
