2009 has been a wonderfully good year here...my best yet!  This has allowed me to upgrade equipment for more of the "good stuff" to provide clients with EVEN better services.  The latest additions have been in MONITORING, MOBILE RECORDING and in MASTERING. 

NEW NOVEMBER 2009!: I am pleased to announce the addition of a Manley Vari-Mu tube compressor-limiter, a Crane Song Avocet for the ultimate in monitor control, and an API 5500 dual equalizer. It's all topped off with a new master clock, the Antelope Audio Isochrone OCX for refinement in the digital domain.

I've also recently added some cool, and I mean very cool equipment for tracking, mixing and mastering including the Apogee Rosetta 200, Crane Song's HEDD 192, IBIS, and STC-8, the True Precision 8 mic preamp, and the ART Tubefire! Talk about beautiful sound and versatility!  Studio monitors have been upgraded here to include the Focal Twin 6be's.  Mighty nice!, and even better mix and master translation than ever before.

Lots of people ask, "What is MASTERING, really?".  I've provided a brief but comprehensive explanation here.  If it creates more questions than it does answers, shoot me an e-mail or give me a call and I'll explain it further.  Even if it doesn't (it can get rather technical), I'd love to hear from you on mastering your next project!  HEY...WE'LL USE THE GOOD STUFF!

Velvet Truckstop have just released their first full-length album, Sweet Release.  And a sweet release it is!  We did the bulk of it here save the keys which we chose to cut at beautiful and commodious Echo Mountain in Asheville.  Kudos to Jon Ashley for his fine work helping to engineer and record the grand piano and Hammond B3 for this fine album.  The album represents VT at their finest with strong, defining, notable musical contributions from Buddy Cage from New Riders of the Purple Sage on pedal steel, Tom Constanten of the Grateful Dead on keys, Artimus Pyle of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame, and the compelling  vocals of Mary Ellen Bush of Ménage.  Yours truly also contributes a little guitar work here and there as well!  The record is being picked up rapidly for airplay around the greater South and East at this time, and glowing print reviews are also beginning to appear.  There are some clips from the sessions up on the MUSIC PAGE, as well as a couple from the band in live performance at the White Horse in beautiful Black Mountain, NC.  The album is available for purchase online HERE.  Congratulations to Velvet Truckstop for being voted the #5 Regional Album of the Year at 88.7fm, WNCW!

WSNB have finished their second album here at the studio.  Having had the privilege to work with these fine and talented musicians on their first album here, and with the warm reception that  Jomo Swamp Root Boogie  got on multiple XM stations, and on stations around the country; anticipation here (and elsewhere) is great that the second offering, Oktibbeha County, will be even better received. And indeed it has been!  Oktibbeha County has broken on to the Americana Top 40.  Offers are pouring in from across the continent for the band to appear.  I highly recommend catching these guys live.  They put on a great show!  I anticipate this rockin' outfit will want to put out a live album next, so stay tuned!  Congratulations to WSNB for being voted the #5 Blues Album of the Year at 88.7fm, WNCW!
